Rott and Tananger

Pier    Rott info.(No/Eng.)  Map

58°55,08’N 05°30,15’E. The island Rott is located off the coast, west of Tananger. A visit can be recommended either as a last stop before you set out to sea, or as a place to come to rest after coasting the outstretched and open Jæren. From Rott to Stavanger is still a few hours of sailing, so here you can seek shelter if the evening sets in. Rott has a small, public quay, but if you ask the locals there will always be a berth to find, even when the harbour is crowded. You may also swing at anchor in the bay. The waters around Rott are wild and beautiful, with scattered islets and reefs, so keep an eye on the chart. Tidal streams with rough sea may occur north along the coast towards Tungenes lighthouse. Entrance to Rott harbour is from the northwest. In the harbour you may chat with other boaters and cottagers, and wander around in the beautiful landscape. Tananger on the mainland, 3 nautical miles to the east, has a good guest harbour, (info in Eng.) and has most of what you may need in addition to good bus connections to Stavanger.
